Riverton Village Board of Trustees met Dec. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on November 20th, 2017 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Ginger Payne, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Superintendent Lyons, and Office Manager Stacy Patterson.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

A moment of silence was given for John Christian Jr.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve November 6th meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Old Business:

Trustee Patrick listed the sealed bid winners (see attached).

Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve the sealed bid sale winners. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

New Business:

Trustee Payne made a motion to approve Resolution #17-005 A Resolution Supporting Application for 2017 ITEP Grant Project Title "Riverton Multi-Use Trail". Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Payne made a motion to approve Resolution #17-006 Resolution Approving Motor Fuel Budget for 2018. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Patrick made a motion for the Approval for engineer to advertise for bids on Riviera Subdivision project and contract will contain "Liquidated Damages" Clause. Trustee Payne seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. The board agreed on $100.00 for Liquidated Damages Clause.

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report.)

Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report.) He added that the Middle School was broken in to. They are reviewing the cameras.

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Fitch was not in attendance.

Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administration Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, was not in attendance.

Trustee Payne, chairman of the Public Works Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, stated that the village will have a Flag raising ceremony on 12/4 at 12:00 pm to celebrate the 200th Birthday of the State.

Mayor Rader thanked the 2nd grade classes for their cards.

The board went to a short recess from 7:26-7:32.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to go into closed session at 7:32. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

The board went back into open session at 7:39 with a motion from Trustee Bartley. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve the resignation of Officer Slusser effective immediately. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve Officer Summerson as full time officer at $17.00/hr. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve the hire of Chris Collins as part time officer starting at $14.34/hr. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:41. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
