Riverton Village Board of Trustees met Dec. 4.

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on December 4th, 2017 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.
The board meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Treasurer Lashonda Fitch, and Superintendent Lyons.
The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve November 20th meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Patrick, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. Trustee Charles abstained.
Old Business:
There was no old business on the agenda.
New Business:
Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Resolution #17-007 Resolution for Illinois Bicentennial. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve Resolution #17- 008 Resolution Adopting Utility Rates for 2018. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Ordinance #17- 032 Ordinance Adopting a Policy Prohibiting Sexual Harassment for Village of Riverton was tabled until the next meeting.
Trustee Landess made a motion to approve the Meeting Dates for 2018. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve the Christmas Light Contest. There will be 2 categories: large and small. The trustees will be the initial judges. On 12/17 a separate committee of judges will then go out to pick the winners. Trustee Charles seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report.)
Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report.) He added that the Kid’s Christmas is this Saturday from 12-2 and on 12/16 is Cookies with a Cop at Charlotte’s Bakery.
Office Manager Patterson was not in attendance.
Treasurer Fitch had nothing to report.
Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administration Committee, stated that the carpet in the office looks great.
Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report.
Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.
Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, had nothing to report.
Trustee Payne, chairman of the Public Works Committee, was not in attendance.
Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, stated that a company called Round Prairie has been sending out letters to Riverton citizens in rural areas regarding placing water mains. The board will be looking into this company further because these are areas that Riverton could be getting water to in the future. The minimum monthly bill when using this company is $85.00. There would also be initial set up fees, etc.
Mayor Rader had nothing to report.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to go into closed session at 7:18. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
The board went back into open session at 7:44 with a motion from Trustee Bartley. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve Ordinance #17- 033 Ordinance Approving Amendment to Collective Bargaining Agreement. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:45. Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
