Riverton Village Board of Trustees met January 2.

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on January 2, 2018 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.
The board meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Ginger Payne, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, Attorney John Myers, and Superintendent Lyons.
The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve December 18th meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Old Business:
There was no old business on the agenda.
New Business:
Trustee Mileham made a motion to appoint Rita Baker as the Village Treasurer. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
Rita Baker then read the oath and took her place at the board table.
Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report.) He added that he is starting to work on his budget sheet for this fiscal year and also that he will be changing out every light fixture in the hall to LED bulbs.
Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report.) He added that the police will attend a meeting at Tri City High School on 1/10/18 to obtain information on a training exercise that Buffalo PD is hosting on 1/29/18. There will be an “active shooter” training exercise that they will participate in with other local departments, the Sheriff’s Department, and local fire departments.
Office Manager Patterson stated that she passed out budget reports to all board members and she needs these back by 3/1/18.
Treasurer Baker had nothing to report.
Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administration Committee, had nothing to report.
Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report.
Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, stated that they had a committee meeting just before this board meeting to discuss utility payments. They will be writing something up when he speaks with Attorney Myers and will be putting new policies in place.
Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, stated that he will be scheduling a committee meeting within the next three weeks.
Trustee Payne, chairman of the Public Works Committee, stated that they will be having a committee meeting on 2/5/18 at 5:30 P.M. at the Village Hall to discuss the budget.
Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, had nothing to report.
Mayor Rader stated that they sent out letters to Riviera residents that the meeting has changed to 1/10/18 at 6:00 PM at the Village Hall. This meeting is to discuss a start date for the upcoming project. He added that Superintendent Lyons went to a meeting with CWLP to discuss a process for Emergency planning for failure of the Spaulding Dam.
Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:17. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
