Riverton Village Board of Trustees met Jan. 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on January 16, 2018 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Ginger Payne, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Trustee Dave Charles and Clerk: Alexandra Campbell was absent Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, Attorney John Myers, and Superintendent Lyons.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Trustee Milehan made a motion to approve January 2nd meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Landess. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Old Business:

There was no old or new business on the agenda.

Mayor Rader said the Riveria Subdivision Meeting went well. They had about 20 in attendance. Residents were mainly concerned about the safety of their mail and mailboxes being at the church. They wanted to know how they were going to be secure. Engineer Kevin Kuhn said they are still working on that and the project had been pushed back to February 12th weather permitting.

Committee Reports:

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report.) He added that he is still working on his budget sheet for this fiscal year.

Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report.) He added that the Sangamon County Tactical Team will have a training day at Tri City High School on Friday, January 26th. They will run a few scenarios with active shooters, victims, and hostage negotiations. Riverton will not participate but will attend to observe. He also stated that North County Teen Court has welcomed two new agencies to the program; Rochester and Grandview and that Chris Collins is doing fine at the part-time academy. Chief also said that he has been reviewing the paperwork for the tobacco grant and it has become quite cumbersome and not worth the effort. Therefore, he will review to see if it is even worth applying for.

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Baker had nothing to report.

Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administration Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report, other than he had an item for closed session.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, stated that the Public Utility Committee is still working on new procedures for delinquent customers. He has the attorney reviewing. They will be having a committee meeting before the next board meeting.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, was absent and didn’t have anything to report.

Trustee Payne, chairman of the Public Works Committee, stated that they will be having a committee meeting on 2/5/18 at 5:30 P.M. at the Village Hall to discuss the budget.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, had nothing to report other than the Fire Department was doing an Ice rescue on January 17th at Veterans Park.

Mayor Rader had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to go into closed session at 7:29. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

The board went back into open session at 8:23 with a motion from Trustee Landess. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:24. Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustees Patrick, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
