City of Petersburg Council met Jan. 3.

Here is the agenda provided by the Council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:002 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Nathan Grosboll, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman, and Rick Sonnemaker. Alderman Keith Wilson was absent. Also present were Treasurer Dave Frick, City Clerk Ken Ortman and City Attorney Chris Sherer.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Molohon to approve the agenda as Presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Molohon and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Grosboll and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of December 19, 2017 Regular Meeting and the December 19, 2017 Tax Levy Hearing. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

Chief Coulter gave the Police Report. The department ran 302 Cad Calls. The Department patrolled 3590 miles. The 2 new computers are in. Two of the 3 cars are scheduled for Trueline to install the mounts. For Christmas the Department found two families that are having hard times. They put a call out on their Facebook Page and the community came through and donated a pick up truck load of gifts. New Years Eve was pretty quite. The Department ended the year with 2995 CAD Calls.

B. Streets

C. Water

D. Fire

Kyle Honkala was in for the Fire Chief to discuss the Fire Department. The Department ran 17 calls last month. Truck 1 will be going to Lincoln to have its right rear Hydraulic Cylinder repaired. Promotions for the year were Tyler Britten was promoted to Captain and Kyle Honkala was promoted to Lieutenant. The Department will hold Donkey Basketball for charity on Jan 14. The chief wanted to know if there was an update on a Surplus Ordinance for the Fire Department.

V. OFFICERS’ REPORTS

A. Mayor’s Report

Mayor Snyder discussed the snow fall situation. He talked with

Superintendent Troxell if it’s less that an inch of snow not to plow or cinder till the next morning unless the police called with issues of it getting slick.

B. Treasurer’s Report

VII. SPECIAL COMMITTEES’ REPORT

VIII. HEARING OF CITIZENS

X. Old Business

There was discussion on the 911 building at the south water tower.

X. NEW BUSINESS

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Gain to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 7:25PM
