Mr. Ruben asked if there was anyone internally that could be promoted. Mrs. Whiteman stated that she is still looking for a new employee.

Old Business:

1. Animal Control Contracts: Nothing to report.

New Business:

1. New Vehicle Update: Mr. Sanders discussed the old van being totaled out, by hitting a deer, and they had to make an emergency purchase. He discussed checking around at local dealerships and getting bids. A motion was made by Mr. Ruben, seconded by Mr. Blankenship, to approve the bid of the new vehicle purchase in an emergency situation in arrears. Mr. Bateman discussed the voucher being for $20,143, which included graphic, and asked if the County could get money back since they wouldn’t be doing the graphic. Mrs. Whiteman stated that they are going to get magnets. Mr. Sanders stated that there was a $500 rebate if they chose to put graphics on. Mrs. Whiteman stated that they are using 2 of the old magnets, and would be using the new ones also. Motion passed. Mrs. Welch asked if there was an insurance claim pending. Mr. Sanders stated that a settlement had already been paid by the insurance company, a little over $13,000. Mr. Bateman discussed wanting to get some stainless steel cat cages with the money paid back because of all the money being spent on the sickness going on with the cats. Mr. Ruben discussed this money coming out of the Animal Control budget and that they will probably have to do a budget amendment later in the year because of being over budget. Mrs. Whiteman stated that for one of the cat cages it was probably $3,000 or $4,000 and she would like two total. Mr. Sanders asked Mrs. Whiteman to get some hard numbers on the new steel cages. Mrs. Whiteman and Mr. Bateman discussed getting the cage in the back of the new Dodge van. Mr. Sanders thanked Mr. Bateman for his help during this process of getting a new vehicle.
