Menard County Board of Commissioners met March 6. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The Menard County Board of Commissioners, Menard County Planning Commission, Public Building


Study Group, Zoning Board of Appeals met for a Special Meeting held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at

6:30 pm at the Menard County Courthouse, 102 South Seventh Street, Petersburg, Illinois.

Commissioners Bob Lott, Jeff Fore, Allan Anderson, Ed Whitcomb, and Troy Cummings were physically

present. A quorum was present. County Zoning Administrator Brian Hollenkamp, State’s Attorney Gabe

Grosboll, and County Coordinator Dara Worthington were also present.

Members from the Menard County Planning Commissioner included: Ed Blair, Mark Churchill, John

Dixon, John Greenan II, Jack Knuppel, Dennis Kunken, Landon Lounsberry, Road Reich, and Julie Wankel.

Members from the Public Building Study Group included: Joe Hemberger, Dan Ortgessen, and Steve

Ozella.

Members from the Zoning Board of Appeals included: Barry Bass, Tom Eldridge, Karen Stott, and Steve

Wilken.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM.

Jessica Tyler, Business Development Manager for Gem Energy, was present to give a presentation on the

proposal for Menard County to enter into a contract with Gem Energy for installation of a Solar Farm on

the county farm. Discussion ensued and encompassed indeminification, timeframe, length of the

contract, energy subscriptions, and property tax impact to county.

Each of the committees broke out into their individual groups for further discussion for a short period of

time. Upon returning to the joint meeting, further questions were posed to Ms. Tyler. At the completion

of the question and answer session, Ms. Tyler exited the meeting.

It was the consensus of the group as a whole that the county should cautiously move forward with the

signing of the nonbinding letter of intent with Gem Energy.

Adjournment

With no further business to conduct, Ed Whitcomb made a motion to adjourn and Troy Cummings

seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
