Report: Ball Chatham spent $8,896 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Ball Chatham Community Unit School District 5 is down 9 percent from five years ago, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Sangamon County school district spent $9,723 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,896 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 4615 to 4714.

Ball Chatham's spending in 2016-17 was 31 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
