Report: New Berlin spent $8,943 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at New Berlin Community Unit School District 16 is up 1 percent from five years ago, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Sangamon County school district spent $8,853 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,943 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 889 to 935.

New Berlin's spending in 2016-17 was 31 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
