Riverton Village Board of Trustees met April 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The board meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Jim Mileham, Joe Bartley, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, Treasurer Rita Baker, Attorney Cravens, and Superintendent Lyons. Trustee Payne was absent.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve the Riviera pay request #2 to Petersburg Plumbing and Excavating for $210,821.56. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve April 2nd meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Don Gray, the Sangamon County Clerk, came forward to address the board. He stated that the vital records unit always does very well and he thanks the board for their help with that. He added that they just came out of a successful and smooth election. They had a 23.5% voting turnout which is about the same as it has been for the last decade. He noted that he wants to give comfort to the public by saying that the vote-by-mail system is completely secure and all security measures are taken to ensure this.

Old Business:

There was no old business on the agenda.

New Business:

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Ordinance #18-005 An Ordinance Pertaining to Nuisance Vegetation, Rubbish, and Pests and Amending the Village of Riverton Code of Ordinances. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve Ordinance #18-006 An Intergovernmental Agreement with Sangamon County Circuit Clerk in reference to the digiTICKET program for the police department. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Ordinance 18-007 Approval of Supplemental Appropriation for 2017-2018. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Committee Reports:

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report.)

Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report.)

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Baker stated that there will be a public hearing on 05/07 at 6:45 p.m. for the Appropriation.

Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administrative Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, stated that Riverton Youth Baseball is having a park cleanup day starting at Wheeland Park on 04/21 at 12. They will be going to all of the Riverton Parks throughout the day.

Trustee Payne, chairman of the Public Works Committee, was not in attendance.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, stated that Teddy Bear Christian Daycare will be having a balloon release for the “Week of the Young Child” on 04/19 at 4:30 and a luncheon on 04/20 at 11.

Mayor Rader, had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:24. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
