City of Petersburg Council met May 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

I. Call To Order

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:03 p.m.

II. Preliminary Matters

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman,and Keith Wilson. Also present were Treasurer Dave Frick, City Clerk Ken Ortman and City Attorney Chris Sherer.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve the agenda as Presented. Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

III. City Clerk

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Molohon and seconded by Alderman Gorman to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Molohon to approve the minutes of 4/17/2018 Regular Meeting and the 4/24/2018 Financial Meeting. Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, abstain. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

Alderman Sonemaker arrived at 7:07 pm. Alderman Grosboll arrived at 7:11 pm.

C. Discussion on Executive Session Minutes.

D. Salt and Chemical Bids were opened.

A motion by Alderman Sonnemaker seconded by Alderman Wilson to accept the bid by Hawkins Water Treatment Group for the Chemicals for the Water Treatment Plant. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, abstain; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

Gunther Salt Company-

Bulk Louisiana Rock Salt $111.20per ton

Morton Salt-

NO BID

A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to accept the bid for salt for the Water Treatment Plant from Gunthar Salt. Votes: Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

III. Departmental Reports

A.Police

Chief Coulter presented his Monthly Report.

Mayor Snyder reported about the meeting with the FOP and the police contract. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to accept the proposed changes to the FOP Contract and for the Mayor to proceed with getting it presented to the Council for final approval. Votes: Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

B. Fire

Chief Pat Rebbe gave the Monthly Fire Report.

C. Zoning

Zoning Administrator John Ramage gave the 1st Quarter Zoning Report

V. Officers’ Reports

A. Mayor’s Report

The mayor discussed the TIF District Business Retention and Expansion Programs.

There is a meeting on 5/3/2018 at 2:30 pm with Keith Moran about the TIF Programs at City Hall.

B. Treasurer’s Report

Treasure David Frick set the next Budget Meeting for May 8, 2018 7:00 pm.

Tree Committee.

A motion made by Alderman Molohon seconded by Alderman Gorman to accept the Tree Committee Minutes of April 2018. Votes: Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

VIII. Hearing Of Citizens

The Mayor spoke for Rob Gallion on the First Baptist Church Block Party street closures on June 8, 2018 from 3-9 pm. On censuses of the Council, they will allow for the usual street closures at those times.

Discussion on the Masters Home Contract.

A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Gorman to adjourn the meeting. Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried. Meeting Adjourned at 8:23 pm
