East Side Fire Protection District responded to 80 calls in 2017 - 18.4 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in East Side included 32 fires - nine structure fires, three vehicle fires and 20 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $45,500 in fire loss - or about $1,422 per fire.

The department also received 47 false calls.
