State Representative Jeff Keicher spoke at a press conference after the first week of the fall veto session, expressing concern about how House Democrats used the limited legislative days. Keicher said he was frustrated by what he described as "more political gamesmanship and closed-door meetings to figure out how they’re going to raise taxes again."

He argued that Illinois is falling behind neighboring Midwest states in economic growth. According to Keicher, if Illinois matched the economic activity levels of nearby states, it would generate an additional $250 million in gross domestic product each year.

Keicher has represented Illinois' 70th House District since his election in 2018. He succeeded Robert W. Pritchard in this role.
