Riverton Village Board of Trustees met May 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on May 21, 2018 at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader. Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Ginger Payne, Jim Mileham, Joe Bartley, and Michelle Landess. Also in attendance were: Chief Lawley, Office Manager Stacy Patterson, Attorney Donald Cravens, Treasurer Rita Baker, and Superintendent Lyons.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve the Riviera Pay Request #3 to Petersburg Plumbing for $221,538.99. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve May 7th meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Lisa Seymour came forward to address the board regarding the Riviera Project. She stated that her driveway is now cracked from the heavy duty equipment that was used to work on the sidewalks. She asked if they are going to repair the side of her driveway that was damaged. The Mayor, Superintendent Lyons, and Kevin Kuhn all stated that it will be fixed. She also asked about her mailbox and whether or not it will be placed back where it was by the workers when they are done or if she will have to do that. The Mayor told her that the workers will replace it once they are finished.

Kevin Kuhn stated that the Riviera Project is moving along smoothly. The mains are completed and they only have six services left to do.

Old Business:

There was no old business on the agenda.

New Business:

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve Resolution #18-002 Resolution Honoring Jim Roberts. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. This resolution will be given to Mr. Robert’s wife, Frances Roberts.

The board then had a moment of silence for Jim Roberts.

Committee Reports:

Superintendent Lyons presented the board with his report. (See attached report.)

Trustee Patrick made a motion to approve the purchase of a gas leak detector for $1,675.00. Trustee Payne seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. The gas detector was budgeted for.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve the intergovernmental agreement with Spaulding to spray for mosquitos. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Chief Lawley presented the board with his report. (See attached report.)

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Baker had nothing to report.

Trustee Landess, chairman of the Administrative Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Mileham, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, stated that the bids for the garage extension are due by 06/01/18 at 4:30 PM and then a committee meeting with be held on 06/04/18 6:00 PM to open the bids.

Trustee Patrick, chairman of the Public Utility Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Charles, chairman of the Parks Committee, stated that the scoreboards that they ordered were shipped today and they will hopefully be up soon.

Trustee Payne, chairman of the Public Works Committee, stated that we were denied the ITEP Grant, but we will continue to reapply with the hopes that we will eventually be awarded the grant.

Trustee Bartley, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, listed upcoming events: The Firecracker Festival is 07/03 from 5-11 PM, Riverton Village wide garage sales are 06/22 and 06/23, and the Fishing derby is 06/15 and 06/16 from 8-11 AM. He also added that we will have a few resolutions for the next meeting.

Mayor Rader, stated that he met with Sangamon County and SMTD to discuss bringing bus service out to Riverton. There is potential for stops at Walmart, the medical district, and downtown Springfield. The bus will run for three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening. The cost is $1.25 each way or 20 rides for $20. They are looking at a Labor Day start date and it will be a six month trial run. They will come speak to the board at a future meeting to go over in depth details.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:34. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
