Springfield City Water, Light and Power issued the following announcement on July 19.
On Saturday, July 21, the City Water, Light and Power Energy Services Office is
hosting a free home efficiency workshop, “Smart Solutions,” focused on home efficiency tips for the
summer and information on how customers can reduce energy and water usage. The workshop begins
at 10:30 a.m. in the Carnegie Room North of Lincoln Library at the corner of Seventh Street and Capitol
Avenue.
This Smart Solutions workshop will provide valuable information on air-conditioning efficiency, sealing
and caulking air infiltration points, weather-stripping doors, applying window kits and implementing other
low- to no-cost efficiency measures that can have a big impact on lowering energy bills. Water
conservation tips will also be provided, as well as the latest on any current programs and rebates
available to increase payback for efficiency investments. All attendees will receive a free water saver kit
as well as a weatherization kit. Light refreshments will be provided.
In addition, CWLP’s energy experts will be on hand at these workshops to work with customers to
analyze specific problems customers are currently experiencing and identify what immediate measures
might be implemented to help them save money and reduce usage.
The workshop, which will last about 90 minutes, is open and free of charge to all CWLP residential
electric customers, but space is limited and pre-registration is required. To pre-register for this workshop,
call the CWLP Energy Services Office at 789-2070 or email nrgxprts@cwlp.com by noon Friday July
20th.
The CWLP Energy Services Office also offers the Smart Solutions workshops on-demand to interested
churches, neighborhood associations, and other community and civic groups, who have a minimum of 15
attendees. In most cases, the workshops can be set up at the convenience of the requesting
organization.
