90 percent of applicants to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville were admitted for fall 2017

At Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Edwardsville enrolled 13,796 students in fall 2017, including 11,402 in undergraduate and 2,394 in graduate programs, data shows. 11.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

85 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 15 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (74 percent) and Black or African American (14 percent).

The school admitted 90 percent of the 6,273 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 32 percent enrolled.
