52 percent of applicants to University of Illinois at Springfield were admitted for fall 2017

At University of Illinois at Springfield, 62 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 51 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Springfield enrolled 4,956 students in fall 2017, including 2,932 in undergraduate and 2,024 in graduate programs, data shows. 18 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

90 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 5 percent are residents of other states. 4 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (66 percent) and Black or African American (13 percent).

The school admitted 52 percent of the 1,746 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 30 percent enrolled.
