City of Athens issued the following announcement on Aug. 8.
City Hall, including the Water Department, will be CLOSING at NOON on Friday, August 10, 2018
We are very sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, but due to unforeseen circumstances, our office will be closed during this time. We will reopen on Monday, August 13 for regular business hours.
If you need to make a water payment during this time, you can make one online at athensil.com or you can drop it in the silver drop box located on the circle drive. You can also drop your payment off to the Athens State Bank location at 200 N West St.
If there is another matter that you are needing assistance with, please call us at 217-636-8429 and leave us a message and we will return it as soon as we can. If there is a water emergency, please follow the prompts on the voicemail message and you will be connected to someone immediately.
