City of Petersburg Council met July 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Ricky Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

Members present were: Mayor Ricky Snyder, Treasurer Dave Frick, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Nathan Grosboll, Andrew Gain, Keith Wilson, Rick Sonnemaker and Deputy City Clerk Tracy Ciesler.

Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the

Flag of the United States of America.

A motion was made by Alderman Wilson and seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the agenda as presented. Votes:  Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Grosboll, yes; and Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

Alderman Gorman arrived at the meeting at 7:03.

III. CITY CLERK

A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve the Accounts Payable and Warrant List as presented. Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Sonnemaker; yes, Grosboll, yes; and Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the Minutes of June 19, 2018 as corrected. Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Sonnemaker; yes, Grosboll, yes; and Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV.HEARING OF CITIZENS

Matt Sage requested a street closure for an O' Reilly's benefit for an employee's husband with cancer.

A motion was made by Alderman Grosboll and seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve the street closures for benefit on. Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Sonnemaker; yes, Grosboll, yes; and Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

V.DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

Assistant Chief of Police Sean Kelly presented the Police Report. 

Discussion was had about a 4 way stop sign being added at 5th and Rutledge Streets. Alderman Wilson disagreed and said he does not believe there needs to be a stop sign there. Discussion was also had about people just walking down the middle of 5th Street and not using sidewalks. These issues will be looked into by the Police.

B. Fire

VI.OFFICER’S REPORT

A. Mayor’s Report

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to pass Resolution 2018-02- A Resolution adopting the City of Petersburg Facade Improvement Program. Votes: Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Grosboll, yes; and Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

Mayor Snyder informed the Council that Randy Frankum resigned.

We will put an ad in the paper for another full time Street Employee.

Mayor Snyder appointed Alderman Gain as Mayor pro tem for the time of July 18- July 31, 2018.

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Molohon to approve Alderman Gain as Mayor pro tem.

Votes: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Grosboll, yes; and Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
