City of Petersburg Council met July 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

I. Call To Order

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:04 p.m.

II. Preliminary Matters

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Keith Wilson. Also present were Treasurer Dave Frick, City Clerk Ken Ortman and City Attorney Chris Sherer. Absent Aldermen Kevin Molohon and Alderman Nathan Grosboll

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve the agenda as Presented. Votes: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

III. City Clerk

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. Votes: Gorman, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of July 3, 2018 Regular Meeting, as amended, the July 12, 2018 Special Meeting and the July 12, 2018 Public Hearing Meeting. Votes: Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

C. I mentioned that I emailed a copy of Ordinance 2010-10 to all the Alderman. It consists of a law passed by the State to regulate Small Wireless Facilities. They need to look it over and discuses and vote on at the first meeting in August.

D. The Mayor mentioned the recent Supreme Court decision regarding Unions and union dues.

IV. Departmental Reports

A.Police

B. Streets

1. Street Superintendent Dave Troxell gave the Street Report.

C. Water

1. Water Collector Georgia Ed presented the Water Collectors Report and Adjustments. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the Water Collectors Report and adjustments as presented. Votes: Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

2. Superintended Dave Troxell gave the Water Superintendents Report. Read meters in 2 days. Pumped, treated and distributed 9,300,000 gallons of water. Collected, treated and discharged 2,657,000 gal or waste water.

D. Fire

1. Chris Henderson with the Fire Department was here asking to add a new member to the Fire Department, Colton Doerr. Lives on 8th street in Petersburg and works for Brant in Williamsville. Was a fireman for the Kilbourn Fire Department. A motion made by Alderman Wilson seconded by Alderman Gorman to approve Colton Doerr to the Fire Department as a Probationary Fireman.

2. The mayor mentioned to Chris about the house on Harris that the Fire Department could be burned for training.

V. Officers’ Reports

A. Mayor’s Report

1. Business Distract Agreement. A motion to accept the Agreement For Technical Services And Assistance Business District City of Petersburg was made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Sonemaker. Votes: Gain, yes; Wilson, no; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

2. Business District Map. A motion by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the Business District Map to include the Poultry Plant. Votes: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, abstain. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

3. Discussion of a Solar Farm to be placed on the 14 acres that Lincoln Land Community College owns.

4. Appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals. A motion made by Alderman Wilson seconded by Alderman Gorman to appoint Pat Potter and Dave Sinclair to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Votes: Gorman, yes; Gain, abstain; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

5. Question from the Mayor on who would like tickets to the Local Officials Day at the State Fair.

B. Treasurer’s Report

1. A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Gorman to accept the Treasures Report. Votes: Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

2. Set Budget Meeting for July 24, 2018 at 7:00 Pm.

A. A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Gorman to approve the Tree Committee Minutes. Votes: Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried.

VIII. Hearing Of Citizens

None

X. Old Business

Larry Moler wants to paint a picnic table at Rotary Park.

Shawn Kelly had a traffic study done on 5th and Taylor for a possible stop sign.

X. New Business

Alderman Wilson asked if the Animal Nuisance law pertains to cats. Assistant Chief Kelly will check on that.

XII. Adjournment

A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Gorman to adjourn the meeting. Votes: Gorman, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Motion Carried. Meeting Adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
