Pleasant Plains Community Unit School District 8 students suspended 70 times in a single school year

Pleasant Plains Community Unit School District 8 reported 70 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 70 students during the year. That equates to 5.4 percent of the 1,288 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 32 incidents. There were one incidents of violence without physical injury. For 29 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 24 incidents. There were six incidents of violence without physical injury. For 16 incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
