Springfield School District 186 students suspended, expelled 3,533 times in a single school year
According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 3,533 students during the year. That equates to 23.8 percent of the 14,862 students enrolled.
Students were expelled for seven incidents with unspecified reasons.
Of the 3,526 out-of-school suspensions, 2,259 were given to boys and 1,267 were given to girls, including 2,883 elementary or middle schoolers and 642 high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 3,526 incidents. For 1,275 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
