CITY OF SPRINGFIELD: Springfield Fire Department Promotes Nine

City of Springfield issued the following announcement on Sept. 12.

Springfield Fire Chief Allen Reyne will promote nine firefighters during a ceremony

to be held in the city council chambers at 11:30 a.m. on September 12, 2018. These promotions will

include three Captains promoted to Battalion Chief, three Driver/Engineers promoted to Captain, and

three Firefighters promoted to Driver/Engineer. The media is invited to attend.

“I am excited to announce these promotions; all nine have served the citizens of Springfield well and will

continue to do so in their new leadership positions.” Chief Reyne said in a release.

Promotions:

Gary Self (Temporary Battalion Chief to Battalion Chief) Self joined the Springfield fire department in

2000. Until recently he served as a Captain on Engine 7. He will be the Department Safety Officer in his

role as Battalion Chief.

Donnie Richardson (Captain to Battalion Chief) Richardson joined the department in 1994. He will leave

Engine 4. Richardson will serve the department in its training division.

Jerry Pettit (Captain to Battalion Chief) Pettit joined the department in 2003. He will leave Battalion 2

Safety Captain and will serve the department in its training division.

Kainan Rinaberger (Driver/Engineer to Captain) Rinaberger joined the department in 2006. He will leave

Squad 1, his assignment as Captain is pending.

Matt Creighton (Driver/Engineer to Captain) Creighton joined the department in 2006. He will leave

Engine 6, his assignment as Captain is pending.

Adam Crowder (Driver/Engineer to Captain) Crowder joined the department in 2001. He will leave

Engine 4, his assignment as Captain is pending.

Casey Adams (Firefighter to Driver/Engineer) Adams joined the department in 2007. He will leave

Engine 10, his assignment as Engineer is pending.

Bill Benedict (Firefighter to Driver/Engineer) Benedict joined the department in 2007. He will leave

Engine 4, his assignment as Engineer is pending.

Eric Jaeger (Firefighter to Driver/Engineer) Jaeger joined the department in 2007. He will leave Engine 5,

his assignment as Engineer is pending.
