City of Peru Public Services Committee met August 13.

Committee Members Present: Alderman Waldorf, Alderman Lukosus, Alderman Sapienza, Alderman Ballard and Mayor Harl absent.

Other Persons Present: Deputy Clerk Stephanie Piscia, Alderman Potthoff, PSM Jeff King, Finance Officer Justin Miller, Economic Development Director Bob Vickrey, Chris Perra of T.E.S.T. and Mike Perry of Chamlin & Associates and Mike Hart

Minutes

Chairman Waldorf made a motion to approve Public Services Committee Meeting 7/30/18 Minutes. Alderman Lukosus seconded; motion carried.

Electric

Committee discussed seeking quotes for 4 bundles of 2” PVC pipe. Electric Department Kye Kaszynski reported stock is getting low. Alderman Waldorf asked that a motion to be placed on the next regular meeting agenda.

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to approve quote from TCIC in the amount of $9,966.00 for emergency repairs at the hydro. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion. Electric Department Foreman Kye Kaszynski reported the units are sinking and should be replaced every ten years. Deputy Clerk Stephanie Piscia called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Ballard voting aye; Alderman Sapienza and Mayor Harl absent; motion carried.

Landfill

PSM King reported on the new signs and continued work going on at the landfill.

Airport

Alderman Lukosus reported moving the AWOS tower is more involved than expected. Alderman Lukosus stated there will need to be a meeting with the Division of Aeronautics before discussing further.

Cemetery

City Engineer Eric Carls reported they are working through a punch list of items left on the mausoleum project.

City Engineer Eric Carls reported that the proposed parking lot at the cemetery will be considered if funds are available after the General Fund Street program is complete.

Parks & Recreation

PSM King reported the pads are being poured at the disc golf course at Baker Lake.

PSM King reported he is working with Aqua Control on the fountains at Baker Lake and there will be three working fountains.

Code Enforcement

City Engineer Eric Carls reported the proposed renter’s registration will coincide with zoning changes that will be implemented this fall.

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on efforts to vacate a resident on Fulton Street.

Engineering

City Engineer Eric Carls provided the following project update:

      · IDOT funded projects (Water Street and Plank Road)

           o Working with IDOT on financial closeouts; expects projects to be closed out in 30-60 days.

      · North Peoria Watermain Replacement

          o Project to start after Labor Day

      · IVRA Taxiway

          o Project has begun

      · Center Place

          o Project to start after Labor Day

      · Former CVS Building Demolition

          o Bid date is September 6th

      · Main Street Watermain Project

          o Waiting for permits to proceed

      · Area 3 Phase 3 Sewer Separation

          o Night time work near the Peru Pizza House; coordinating with IDOT.

      · General Fund Street Program

          o Contractor working on concrete portions with milling in next two weeks; should be complete in a month

      · Splash Pad

          o Working with NCICG on close out paperwork for grant.

          o Basketball hoop

          o Pickleball

          o Met with Anthony Anniballi regarding ice rink board; scheduled to be delivered in October

          o Met with Kye regarding lighting

      · St. John’s Addition

           o Underground work is complete; working on concrete and curbs

      · Proposed 7th Street Watermain Project

          o Working with NCICG/DCEO to see if the City would qualify for grant funds

Public Comment

Resident Mike Hart asked who is in charge of approving fiber optic in sidewalk by the Peru Public Library. City Engineer Eric Carls reported it has been an ongoing issue with the outside utility companies. City Engineer Eric Carls reported a new permitting process is underway for locates in rights-of-way.

Mr. Hart also noted that everything looks good at the splash pad and suggested putting garbage cans in the parking lot. City Engineer Eric Carls stated there are receptacles all around the splash pad and will have staff look to see if additional cans are needed.

Chairman Waldorf made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion; motion carried.
