City of Peru Public Services Committee met July 16.

Committee Members Present: Alderman Waldorf, Alderman Sapienza and Alderman Sapienza and Mayor Harl present; Aldermen Lukosus and Ballard absent.

Other Persons Present: Deputy Clerk Stephanie Piscia, Alderman Potthoff, Alderman Payton, PSM Jeff King, ASM Doug Bernabei, City Engineer Eric Carls, Electric Department Foreman Kye Kaszynski and Mike Perry of Chamlin & Associates

Minutes

Chairman Waldorf made a motion to approve Public Services Committee Meeting 7/2/18 Minutes. Alderman Sapienza seconded; motion carried.

Public Comment

Water & Sewer

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on the procurement procedure in order to be eligible for grant services for the EWWTP and Flood Wall project. City Engineer Eric Carls stated the city sought bids for engineering services and received one submittal from Chamlin & Associates.

T.E.S.T.

City Engineer Eric Carls stated they are working through punch list and construction on the splash pad and working through sensory problems today.

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on the blower that was supposed to be sold to the City of Byron. City Engineer Eric Carls stated they tested the blower and it is junk therefore there will be no exchange of funds.

Streets & Alley

City Engineer Eric Carls reported the west half of General Fund program and will take about 6 weeks to complete. City Engineer Eric Carls also noted work will shift to Plum Street today so that portion can be completed before school starts.

Electric

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to authorize the purchase of 2019 Ford F30 Super Cab 4x4 pickup truck from Bob Ridings Fleet Sales in the amount of $37,260.00. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion. Electric Department Foreman Kye Kaszynski reported on the age of his current truck.Deputy Clerk Stephanie Piscia called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Ballard voting aye; Alderman Sapienza absent; Mayor Harl absent; motion carried.

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to authorize the purchase of 2017 GMC Savana Cargo Van from Jeff Perry Buick GMC in the amount of $23,396.94. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion and noted a trade in of $12,000 for a total of $11,396.94. Electric Department Foreman Kye Kaszynski stated the van is needed to store equipment and materials. Deputy Clerk Stephanie Piscia called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Ballard voting aye; Alderman Sapienza absent; Mayor Harl absent; motion carried.

Electric Department Foreman Kye Kaszynski reported the city has 17 economic development rate customers on the AMI system and stated the system is running well. Electric Department Foreman Kye Kaszynski stated he expects the complete installation to be within the next 2 years.

Landfill

None

Airport

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to approve construction of a hangar approach to Ladzinski Cement Finishing in the amount of $19,385.34. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion. Deputy Clerk Stephanie Piscia called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Ballard voting aye; Alderman Sapienza absent; Mayor Harl absent; motion carried.

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on a preconstruction meeting regarding the taxiway project.

City Engineer stated the project should at the end of this week or beginning of next week, as they were just waiting for a few items from the Division of Aeronautics for Notice for Proceed.

Cemetery

PSM King reported the cemetery is looking good.

City Engineer Eric Carls reported nothing will happen with the parking lot until the General Fund Street Program is complete to see if the funds are available.

Parks & Recreation

Code Enforcement

Engineering

City Engineer Eric Carls reported on the following projects:

      · Splash Pad

           o Finishing up punch list

      · St. John’s Project

           o Wrapping up work on Shooting Park Road; half way done with storm sewer project then moving on to curb and gutter

          o Project to be complete in one month

      · EWWTP Flood Wall

          o Meeting on Wednesday

      · Center Place

          o Bid opening Thursday

          o Slope issues

          o Replacing 850 ft of watermain

      · Main Street Water Main

         o Waiting on IEPA approval

         o Fall project

      · Plank Road Project

         o Working on closeout with IDOT outstanding material submittals

         o Reimbursements with Finance Officer Justin Miller to finalize out the project

      · Capital Projects

          o Working on next year’s capital projects

      · Unytite Drive

           o Waiting on IDOT submittals

Buildings & Grounds

      · Code Enforcement

          o Discussed property located at 1303 Plain Street across from Washington Park

          o Property maintenance letter was sent and came back to city; being handled by the police department going further

Old Business

PSM King reported on continued water line repairs on N. Peoria Street.

Chairman Waldorf made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion; motion carried.
