Athens Community Unit School District 213 issued the following announcement on Dec. 15.
Athens Community Unit School District #213 is notifying all employees, building occupants, and parents that an asbestos abatement project will be taking place in the Junior/Senior High School. The project will commence on or about December 23, 2018 while students are not in session. The removal and disposal process of the asbestos containing materials will follow all state and federal rules and regulations as required. An I.D.P.H. licensed Asbestos Abatement Contractor will be conducting the work and will at all times be overseen by an on-site I.D.P.H. licensed Asbestos Project Manager.
