City of Petersburg Council met Nov. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:02 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Nathan Grosboll, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Keith Wilson. Also present were Treasurer Dave Frick, City Clerk Ken Ortman and City Attorney Chris Sherer. Alderman Kevin Molohon was absent.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of November 6, 2018 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Water

1. Water Collector Georgia Ed gave the Collectors Report of October 2018. It’s been one year since the last rate increase. The City is ahead of last year by about $234,000. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to accept the Water

Collectors Report and adjustments as presented. VOTES: Gorman, yes, Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. Streets

1. Resolution 2018-09 Maintenance under the Highway Code. This is the Annual Motor Fuel Tax allocation FY 2019. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve Resolution 2018-09 maintenance Under Highway Code. VOTES: Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

V. OFFICERS’ REPORTS

A. Mayor’s Report

1. Employee Christmas Party. Mayor Snyder is requesting the City host a Christmas Party for the Employees on December 19, 2018 at 3 PM. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to spend $200 for an Employee Christmas Party on December 19, 2018 at 3 PM. VOTES: Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. Treasurer’s Report

1. Treasurer David Frick presented the Annual Treasurer’s Report. A motion made by Alderman Wilson seconded by Alderman Gain to Approve the Annual Treasurer’s Report as presented. Votes: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

2. Exit Audit Conference with Auditor Mike Feriozzi. Auditor Mike Feriozzi presented his Audit to the Council. He discussed the financial status and economics of the City.

VI. STANDING COMMITTEES’ REPORT

None

VII. SPECIAL COMMITTEES’ REPORT

1. Tree Committee Meeting Minutes of November 2018. A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve the Tree Committee Meeting Minutes of November 2018. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

VIII. HEARING OF CITIZENS

None

X. Old Business

1. Alderman Wilson asked about the two properties he has brought up about getting them cleaned up. He would like us to send the property owners a letter. The mayor will check on it tomorrow. 2. Discussion on dumpster diving. Perhaps we need to modify the newly created Garbage and Trash Ordinance.

X. NEW BUSINESS

1. Republic Garbage Company. They did not show up. 2. Area Wide Garbage Company discussed what they are doing for the City. 3. Alderman Wilson asked about a Scissor Lift at the corner of Rutledge and 11th that may need to be moved. 4. Assistant Police Chief Sean Kelly presented a proposal that the Menard County Sheriff, Athens Police and Greenview Police are changing their radios to StarCom21 System. With eliminating the two phone lines and the fax line in the Police office we will be able to use those funds for the new StarCom21 System. By consensus of the Council the Police Department should implement the StarCom21 System.

XII. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Gain to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 8:13PM
