City of Petersburg Council met Dec. 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:02 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Nathan Grosboll, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Keith Wilson. Also present were Treasurer Dave Frick, City Clerk Ken Ortman and City Attorney Chris Sherer. Alderman Andrew Gain was absent.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve the agenda as ammended. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Grosboll and seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Wilson and seconded by Alderman Gorman to approve the minutes of November 20, 2018 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS

A. Joe Wood spoke in regards to a bill of $266.00 the City had sent him for the clean up of the leaves he had blown into the street in front of his house. The Mayor stated that it hd become a hazard and someone came to City Hall and filed a complaint about it. So the Mayor had the Street Department clean it up and bill the property owner. After further discussion Alderman Wilson made a motion that the fine be dropped. Because of lack of a seconded the motion died.

IV. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

1. Assistant Chief Kelly gave the Monthly Police Department Report. For the month of November the department had 260 CAD Calls. 2. The department patrolled 3,048 miles. 3. Police Department is sponsoring its 2nd Coffee with the Cops on Wednesday December 5th from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Bean Time Café. 4. Officer Dejaynes gave his notice of resignation effective December 11th. 5. The Police Department will start Advertising for Full Time Officer and for a new Chief because of the City joining the IMRF. 6. There was a discussion of the burned out trailer and other locations with trash that needs to be cleaned up.

B. Fire

1. Jeff Hubner presented the Fire Department Report. 2. The Department had 24 calls for the month of November. 3. Truck 1 had the front wheel hub replaced and still has a starting issue when the unit sits for a while. We are going to have Lonny’s Garage come by to look at it at the station. 4. We ordered the Drop tank from Banner Fire Equipment. We got a 32,000 gallon tank and it ended up only costing $2474.00. 5. We bought a sensor for the 4 gas meter for $300. 6. Kobe Wheaton passed his Mod C, and has a few more classes to take before he earns his Basic Operations Firefighter Certification. 7. We delivered Santa to the Light up the Square Event.

C. Zoning

1. Mark Ed with the Roseview Green House asked for a 30 day extension to their demolition as the contractor just got done with the project he had before theirs. A motion made by Alderman Grosboll seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve a 30 day extension for the demolition of the Roseview Greenhouse. VOTES: Wilson, abstain; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

V. OFFICERS’ REPORTS

A. Mayor’s Report

1. The Mayor presented Ordinance 2018-17 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE II OF THE REVISED CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PETERSBURG REGARDING THE EDGAR LEE MASTERS MEMORIAL. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve Ordinance 2018-17 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE II OF THE REVISED CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PETERSBURG REGARDING THE EDGAR LEE MASTERS MEMORIAL. VOTES: Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 2. IDOT will be down Thursday 12/6 9:30 a.m. to discuss the Route 97 Project. 3. Discussion about an Employee Christmas Bonus. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Wilson to approve $125.00 dollars Christmas Bonus for all Full Time Employees and $60.00 for all Part Time Employees. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. Treasurer’s Report

1. The Treasure presented the Treasure’s Report for November 2018. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve the Treasure’s Report. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 2. The Treasure presented the figures suggested by Auditor Michael Feriozzi. 3. The City received a Letter of Compliance for the audit done on the TIF District.

VI. STANDING COMMITTEES’ REPORT

VII. SPECIAL COMMITTEES’ REPORT

X. Old Business

NONE

X. NEW BUSINESS

1. Alderman Sonnemaker asked to have more rock placed into the repair done to 5th street. 2. Alderman Wilson suggested we change the 1st meeting in January to Thursday January 3, 2019 because of the Holiday and the office being closed. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to move the first meeting in January to January 3, 2018. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

XII. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Wilson, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 8:13PM
