Illinois State Museum issued the following announcement on March 7.
March is National Craft Month! Crafters of all ages, disciplines, interests, and skill levels celebrate by creating something new. We challenge you to shake off winter and celebrate National Craft Month by taking a class to learn a new skill, starting that new project you’ve been putting off, or finding your inspiration at a gallery or exhibition.
Beyond just boredom busting, engaging in arts and crafts brings with it a number of benefits. Artisans frequently use their craft to express themselves by creating something that tells a story. Crafting brings health benefits by helping to manage stress, lower blood pressure, and improve mood. It’s also beneficial in improving coordination and learning new skills.
Are you an artist, crafter, or maker, or do you prefer to admire the works of others? Vote in the poll! You can also leave us a comment below to tell us how you plan to celebrate National Craft Month.
