El Paso Gridley Community Unit School District 11 Board met Jan. 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Dave Mool called the Regular Board Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with the following Board members present: Randy Barth, Jeremy Faulk, John Hartness, David Mool, Brian Stoller, and Josh Uphoff. Ed Faulk was absent. Administrators present: Superintendent Brian Kurz, Jefferson Park School Principal Kelly Throneburg, Centennial School Principal Tim Fairchild, E.P.G.J.H.S. Principal Robby Tomlinson, E.P.G.H.S. Principal Brian Quam, and Director of Instruction Amber Buss.

A motion was made by John Hartness and seconded by Brian Stoller to approve the agenda as presented. All yeas. The motion carried six to zero.

Visitors included Logan Elder, Seth Campbell, Kim Elder, Brad Griffin, and Cara Howard (El Paso Journal).

A thank-you card was passed around.

A motion was made by Randy Barth and seconded by John Hartness to approve the consent agenda as presented:

 Approve Minutes from Regular Board Meeting held on December 17, 2018

 Approve Closed Minutes from the Regular Board Meeting held on December 17, 2018

 Approve Financial Reports

 Approve Bills

 Accept Ellen Rigsby’s Resignation as a Bus Monitor

 Approve Hiring Tammy Reeser as a Bus Monitor

 Approve Keeping Closed Session Minutes Dated 07-23-18 thru 12-17-18Closed

 Approve Destroying Closed Session Audio Tapes Dated 01-23-17 thru 06-27-18 per Policy 2:220

All yeas. The motion carried six to zero.

Written reports were submitted earlier by the principals and Director of Instruction.

Amber Buss reported that the assessment tests are still working on finalizing a contract with the State.

Brian Kurz is gathering information on building needs.

Superintendent Kurz is finalizing specs on the parking lot project.

Mr. Kurz is looking into a part-time trainer to work with athletic practices in 2019-2020, primarily with concussion screening.

The Board discussed the Photography by Curt contract.

A team shooting sports proposal was reviewed as a possibility to add this spring at no cost to the district. Quantity vs quality of activities that we offer was discussed.

The Junior High Dean/Athletic Director Position for 2019-2020 will work with Tim Fairchild.

A motion was made by Randy Barth and seconded by Brian Stoller to adjourn to Closed Session at

7:44 p.m. to discuss collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees, the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity, or student disciplinary cases, or discussions regarding self-evaluation as a Board. All yeas. The motion carried six to zero.

A motion was made by Josh Uphoff and seconded by John Hartness to adjourn from Closed Session at 8:06 p.m. All yeas. The motion carried six to zero.

A motion was made by Josh Uphoff and seconded by John Hartness to approve the Photography by Curt Contract. All yeas. The motion carried six to zero.

A motion was made by Randy Barth and seconded by Brian Stoller to approve posting the Junior High Dean/Athletic Director Position for 2019-2020 School Year. All yeas. The motion carried six to zero.

A motion was made by Jeremy Faulk and seconded by David Mool to adjourn the meeting at 8:07 p.m. All yeas. The motion carried six to zero.
