The price of local government in 2017: Dupage County

The Dupage County budget was $620.34 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's a decrease of 8.7 percent from 2016, when the county spent $679.49 million.

Dupage County has a population of 930,128.

Since 2001, the Dupage County budget has fallen by 53.5 percent, from $1,335.10 million. The county population has grown two percent over the same period, from 912,044.

Salaries accounted for 28.7 percent of county spending in 2017. Dupage County property taxpayers paid $178.23 million for 2641 full-time employees and 162 part-time employees.

In 2001, the county had 3414 full-time employees and 899 part-time employees, and spent $223.97 million.
