City of Atlanta Council met April 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

OPEN: The Special meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at the Atlanta City Hall.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mcvey at 7:30pm

 

ROLL CALL: Mayor McVey, Tommy Young, Andrea Halley, and Keith Eimer were present. Billie Cheek and Amber Finchum are absent.

 

Mayor McVey has a request for Amber Finchum to attend the meeting electronically.

Motion by Halley second by Eimer to allow Amber Finchum to attend meeting electronically.

Amber Finchum joined the meeting at 7:34pm.

 

The first item is to Review and Approve shift hourly rates for Part-Time Patrol Officers.

This was discussed at the first meeting in April, but no vote was taken.

Alderman Young stated this should be done before the end of April and that the Ordinance should be changed in the future.

 

Motion by Halley second by Finchum to accept the hourly rates for the three different shifts for the patrol officers.

The second item is to Review and Approve a Special Events bonus for Patrol Officers.

Chief Eimer has explained that it is difficult to get an Officer to cover during these Special Events and would like to, at his discretion, to offer them a bonus to cover the high traffic events.

Chief Eimer would then come back to the council with costs and coverage information.

 

Motion by Finchum second by Halley to Accept the Special Event bonus as presented.

The last item on the agenda is to Review and Approve the Amended Employment Agreement with the Chief of Police. Changes that were made were, he will be paid an hourly wage, getting paid same as other employees and will work an average of 20 hours a week.

 

Motion by Halley second by Finchum to approve and accept the new contract between the City of Atlanta.
