Former state university employee Ufert Fairless paid in $125K to pension fund, could collect $3.23M in retirement

Former state university employee Nancy Ufert Fairless, who retired in May 2017, saved $125,076 toward a pension over 33 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Ufert Fairless would collect as much as $3.23 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Sangamon Sun.

The projection assumes Ufert Fairless received $67,881 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Ufert Fairless will have already received $137,798 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
