Village of Williamsville Village Board met June 24.

The Town Hall/board meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by President Yokley. Clerk: Karen Winger. Trustees: Dave Carter, John Brennan, Heather Hofferkamp, Patrick Gettleman, Skylar Tierney, Matt Bunger.
GUESTS: Jean Forness from the Williamsville Library attended the board meeting to discuss the events that have been held at the library/museum. She also discussed future events. She invited everyone to come visit the library/museum and see the new exhibit starting on July 1st.
COMMUNICATIONS: President Yokley read a thank you card from the Williamsville Band Boosters, thanking the Village for their donation towards the 2019 Williamsville Jazz Dinner.
President Yokley read a thank you card from Leah Kluemke, thanking the Village for their support towards the Vocal Music Booster Scholarship.
Trustee Carter made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular board meeting held on June 10, 2019. Trustee Hofferkamp seconded the motion. All ayes, motion carried.
Trustee Tierney made a motion to approve the minutes of the executive board meeting held on June 10, 2019. Trustee Gettleman seconded the motion. All ayes, motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
FINANCE: Trustee Tierney made a motion to pay bills as presented. Trustee Brennan seconded the motion. All ayes, motion carried.
PUBLIC SAFETY (John Brennan): Trustee Brennan made a motion to pass Ordinance # 2019-6, adopting Chapter 285 Article VI for the operation of non-highway vehicles on roadways within the Village of Williamsville. Trustee Gettleman seconded the motion. 5 Ayes, Trustee Brennan voted “present”. Motion carried.
WATER & SEWER, (Matt Bunger): Trustee Bunger had nothing to report.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (Hofferkamp): Trustee Hofferkamp stated her committee held a meeting. She stated the Village has been approached by Central IL Sign about possibly installing a digital sign along I-55. Central IL Sign will be doing some research with IDOT regarding what they need to do in order to be able to do this. She said they will meet again with Central IL Sign on July 8th. She states she believes it would be a positive financial impact on the Village. She says the sign could possibly result in an income of approximately $20,000 a year.
Comments were made by the public regarding the fees for the ordinance that was just passed (non-highway vehicles). They feel the cost is too expensive compared to other Villages. Trustee Gettleman stated this is something new for the Village. He states the Village will try this for a year and if adjustments need to be made after that time, then they will be made. Trustee Brennan stated the Village is doing the administration. He also stated the Village will revisit this after a year and make any necessary adjustments. President Yokley also agreed that the Village will look at any changes that need to be made after the first year (registration fee, hours of operation, etc.).
PARKS & RECREATION (Dave Carter): Trustee Carter stated some new sidewalks have been installed at the park. There will be eight new ADA parking spaces. Trustee Carter also discussed upcoming installations at the park.
Trustee Carter thanked everyone for cleaning up the park, and for their hard work at the park.
Trustee Tierney stated he has received compliments about our park facility. Some people have stated our facility is the best around in this area.
STREETS, ALLEYS, SIDEWALKS & STORM SEWERS (Patrick Gettleman): Trustee Gettleman stated the Main Street drainage project will be starting on June 25th. He asked that people slow down and used caution in order to keep everyone safe on Main Street.
ADDITIONAL BUSINESS: President Yokley reminded everyone the 1% school tax goes into effect on July 1st. All businesses will be required to collect the additional 1% tax (collected through sales tax). He stated the tax money goes to the Illinois Department of Revenue and then disbursed to the regional office of education, which is then sent to the schools.
The regular board meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Village of Williamsville adjourned at 6:54 p.m.
