Village of Williamsville Village Board met Aug. 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Town Hall/board meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by President Yokley. Clerk: Karen Winger. Trustees: Dave Carter, Heather Hofferkamp, Patrick Gettleman, Skylar Tierney, Matt Bunger, John Brennan

GUESTS: See attached list.

COMMUNICATIONS: Trustee Carter thanked Public Works on how nice the park looks.

Trustee Hofferkamp stated the high school football team volunteered community service hours within the community.

Trustee Brennan made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular board meeting held on July 22, 2019. Trustee Tierney seconded the motion. All ayes, motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

FINANCE: Trustee Tierney made a motion to pay bills as presented. Trustee Hofferkamp seconded the motion. All ayes, motion carried.

Trustee Tierney discussed CWLP. He would like to see a five-year transparency of the rates they have charged the Village. PUBLIC SAFETY (John Brennan): Trustee Brennan shared the Incident Analysis Report.

WATER & SEWER, (Matt Bunger): Trustee Brennan discussed the notice we received from CWLP.

Trustee Bunger will be following up with Kent Thompson regarding the Caldwell project.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (Hofferkamp): Trustee Hofferkamp stated the Economic Development committee meeting held a meeting to discuss cannabis. A joint public meeting with the Economic Development committee and the Public Safety committee will be held on October 15th at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the new laws regarding recreational cannabis. She stated this will give the public a chance to give feedback regarding the topic.

Trustee Hofferkamp stated the Whistle Stop bakery has closed for business. Bob Kording is looking for a new business to move into the building.

Trustee Hofferkamp stated Central IL Sign is still doing some research with IDOT regarding the proposed digital sign along the interstate.

Trustee Hofferkamp asked the board if there are any issues with placing purple and gold ribbons on the light poles on Main Street. No one objected as long as the ribbons are removed afterwards.

Trustee Hofferkamp also stated the football team and their parents have made more signs to place on the entrances of town. President Yokley stated there is a highway easement and we have no control of that.

PARKS & RECREATION (Dave Carter): Trustee Carter stated we will be looking into the playground equipment we need to purchase with the grant.

STREETS, ALLEYS, SIDEWALKS & STORM SEWERS (Patrick Gettleman): Trustee Gettleman had nothing new to report.

Trustee Gettleman inquired how far behind the overpass is running. John Sestak believes they are getting caught up. They are currently working on the dirt, before winter arrives.

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS: President Yokley and Kent Thompson have asked Randy Segatto to amend our ordinance about planting trees in the Village’s right-of-way.

President Yokley stated the Village is looking to change cell phone carrier from AT&T to Verizon. He stated it will save the village money and AT&T’s reception is not reliable.

Kent Thompson was told to start the bidding process for the new truck that was budgeted (a 1-ton truck). Trustee Tierney reminded everyone that it is not too early to start working on 2020 budget.

Kent Thompson stated money will need to be budgeted for preventative maintenance on the sewer plant. The regular board meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Village of Williamsville adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
