City of Petersburg City Council met March 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:04 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Andrew Gain, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney John Gabala. Alderman Bruce Gorman and Nathan Grosboll were absent.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the agenda as Presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

III. CITY CLERK

A. City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes;

Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Molohon and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of February 18, 2020 Regular Meeting as corrected. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

1. Police Chief John Jones gave the Police Department Report.

Alderman Grosboll arrived at 7:07 p.m.

2. ORDINANCE 2020-01 AN ORDINANCE OF SANITARY DISPOSAL OF DOG FECES.

Discussion was held on the Ordinance. A motion made by Alderman Molohon seconded by Alderman Gain to approve ORDINANCE 2020-01 AN ORDINANCE OF SANITARY DISPOSAL OF DOG FECES. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

3. Police Department received a $10,000.00 grant from Snedeker Risk management for purchase of new body cameras and vehicle cameras. The Department will decided what they want and purchase them and turn the receipt over the Snedeker and they will cut us a check for $10000.00.

B. Fire

Fire Chief Pat Rebbe gave the Fire Department Report. The Department ran a total of 20 calls this month. Events at the fire house this month will be the Proving Ground Pro Wrestling on March 8 and Illinois Primary Voting on March 17th.

V. OFFICERS’ REPORTS

A. Mayor’s Report

1. The 2020 Municipal Aggregation Contract is up at this time with The Stone River Group. We need to sign the participation letter if we are going to participate this year. By consensus of the council the Mayor will sign the agreement letter.

2. City Wide Clean up. Alderman Gain talked to A-1 Disposal. He told them to submit a proposal to the city. The Mayor will talk to Area Wide about it too. We will be setting a date at the first meeting in April.

B. Treasurer’s Report

None

VI. STANDING COMMITTEES’ REPORT

None

Alderman Gorman arrived at 7:25 p.m.

VII. SPECIAL COMMITTEES’ REPORT

None

VII. HEARING OF CITIZENS

Charlie Angel has a tree that Dr. Bennett gave his son. He wants to transplant it in one of the City Parks and place a plaque on it. The Mayor said it will be ok to do and we will find a location to plant it. He gave Charlie the name of Harold Carter that can transplant it for him.

VIII. Old Business

Officer Beatty has filed a grievance and a meeting is set for March 18, 2020 7:00 p.m.

IX. NEW BUSINESS

X. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Grosboll and seconded by Alderman Gain to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
