City of Atlanta City Council met April 7.

OPEN: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held remotely from the Atlanta City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor McVey at 7:30pm.

Motion by Cheek second by Evans to approve the minutes as presented.

Police Chief Eimer reported on a string of burglaries. An individual was taken into custody. After an additional burglary other individuals were apprehended. The council asked the chief several questions. Alderman Evans thanked the Police for fast action.
The Mayor referred to a letter of actions the school intended to take as the school project goes forward.
Surveying was proceeding near the school; other work was proceeding in the area.
The Mayor wanted to discuss the school issue in a regular session when everyone is present.
The Mayor brought up the question to the Council to allow the Clerk and the Mayor to pay all bills as far as money allows until the Covid-19 emergency is over or until the council can meet in regular session again.
Motion by Evans second by Dreyer to allow the Clerk and Mayor to see all bills are paid during the shutdown.

The Council took up an ordinance increasing the minimum water bill by $2 and lowering the sewer rate by $2.
Motion by Cheek second by Evan to amend the Water-Sewer rates, adding $2 to water, reducing Sewer by $2.

The Council reviewed a Tourism request from the palms Grill for $300.00 to repair the Palms Grill sign near Casey’s.
Motion by Colaw second by Cheek to pay $300 to the Palms Grill for repair of the sign.

The Mayor brought up an ordinance to amend the TIF Development agreement extending the completion agreement to 12-31-20 for the truck stop project.
Motion by Evans second by Dreyer to grant the extension.

The court system remains closed until May 1, 2020. The attorney reported that assistance was available for small businesses.
Alderman Colaw reported on a survey being mailed out to see if there was interest in a laundromat.
Also, a discount program being done in Mt. Pulaski is being looked at.
Alderman Cheek wondered if anything could be done by the City to help during the crisis.
The Mayor reported that Chris Thomas was resigning as alderman due to moving to another ward.
The Mayor told the Council that salaries will be reviewed at the next meeting.
The Mayor outlined some things the City was doing due to virus situation.
