City of Atlanta City Council met May 5.

OPEN: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held on Tuesday May 5, 2020 remotely from the Atlanta City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor McVey at 7:30pm.

Paul Goodwin addressed the council on the recent rain and problems that had shown up.
He felt that there were areas that needed to be upgraded.
Alderman Young and Paul felt that a small auger machine should be purchased to take care of small drains that needed cleaned.
The Council took up the proposed Business Support Program. Dollar General had been contacted as well as other businesses regarding participation. Costs of the discount program was discussed. The council will review the program prior to the next meeting.
The Mayor reviewed the City’s possible participation in aggregation for municipal power.
Mayor McVey reported that he was securing costs for new garbage service for Atlanta.
The topic of the Rt. 4 project was discussed. The area was part of original Rt. 66, built in the twenties.
The development of the attraction will cost about $8000. The City’s share will be $6000.
Motion by Evans second by Dreyer to approve the Rt. 4 project.

The Council took up a resolution allowing Class C license holders to sell package liquor curbside.
The City attorney outlined the regulations. The resolution followed state regulations. The Mayor felt a limit of 2 bottles of wine or 4 six packs of beer.
Motion by Eimer second by Evans to approve the resolution.

The attorney reported that the next court date for the City would be 6/2/20. This pertained to the house on the corner of 2nd and Elm St.
Alderman Colaw reported on the laundromat survey. Round 145 people seemed to want the service in Atlanta.
Business District boundaries were discussed by Alderman Young. He wanted to be sure the legal description was correct.
The Mayor reported that the Golf Course had reopened.
Mayor reported on the drainage issues that needed to be improved.
The Mayor reported on labor reductions to help reduce costs and minimize health risks.
