Athens Community Unit School District 213 issued the following announcement on June 19.
Provided Governor Pritzker moves Illinois to Phase 4, Athens High School will hold an in-person traditional graduation ceremony on Saturday, July 11 at 10 am on the football field. The rain date is Sunday, July 12 at 2:00 pm on the football field.
The welcome speech, valedictory and salutatory speeches will be given. The Student of the Year and AEA scholarships will be recognized. National Honor Society seniors and Illinois State Scholars will also be recognized.
Health Department guidelines still ask attendees to practice social distancing and to wear masks.
