ILLINOIS STATE MUSEUM: Red, White, and Blue Online Super Saturday

Inde

Illinois State Museum issued the following announcement on June 20.

Join us over the 4th of July weekend to celebrate red, white, and blue! This online event will include engaging art and science activities you can do from home including experimenting with magic milk fireworks, designing a penny spinner, and sharing your plans for the holiday weekend with us.

For more at-home fun, reserve for a free activity kit. Activity kits will include supplies for two craft activities and a few supplies for a fun science experiment (some additional supplies needed). Check out http://bit.ly/ismjulykit for more information and to reserve your kits. Kit reservations required by June 30, and supplies are limited to 50 participants. Kits must be picked up curbside at the Museum on July 1 or 2.

In addition to activities, fun facts with educational resources you can use to learn more will be shared throughout the weekend. Activities, facts, and resources will be posted to this event page and our ISM Family Fun website at https://bit.ly/virtualfamilyevents. You can participate by responding "going" to this event or checking the website during the event weekend. From Friday to Sunday, you’ll find new content for your family to enjoy.

Enter to win a “door prize!” Everyone who completes an activity and shares a photo via email (events@illinoisstatemuseum.org) or in the Facebook event will be entered in a drawing for a gift card from Lincoln’s Little Toy Shop. You can choose one of the recommended activities posted during the event or come up with your own activity. You can post or send your entry through Monday, July 6.* We'll announce the winner and feature our favorite photos on social media after the event.

This online event is sponsored by bankwithBOS. Activities will be geared toward elementary age children and their families, but most will be adaptable to other ages.

*Prize Drawing Details: Please submit family-friendly content only. The Museum reserves the right to remove or hide any content it feels is inappropriate for its audience. Only one entry per individual for the drawing, though you may post/send as many photos as you like during the event. Winners will have to share their name and address to receive their prizes. This information will not be shared outside the Museum and will not be used for purposes other than mailing prizes.
