Q4 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Logan County?

There were 16 offenders released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2019 that live in Logan County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that 14 men and two women were released in Logan County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 37. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2019, and the oldest was a 57-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Braxton Bowers. He was convicted of homicide in 2003 when he was 17 years old. He is now 34.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
