Riverton Village Board of Trustees met June 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:01 pm. Those answering roll call: Trustees: Dave Charles, Ginger Payne, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess. Mayor Tom Rader and Trustee Russ Patrick were absent.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A moment of silence was held to honor Vicky Vice, wife of Larry Vice and mother of Rick Vice, who passed away.

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve June 1st regular board meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Payne. Trustees Charles, Payne, Bartley, and Mileham voted yes. Trustee Landess abstained.

People to Address the Board:

Gina Rusciolelli wanted to thank the Village workers for working hard throughout the community to keep it looking nice.

Superintendent Lyons submitted his report.

Deputy Chief Landgrebe reported that the newest police hire had started his training.

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Baker was absent

Committee Reports:

Trustee Landess, chairperson of the Administrative Committee, thanked the board for their support during her recent loss.

Trustee Payne, chairperson of the Public Safety Committee, requested closed session.

Trustee Mileham, chairperson of the Public Utility Committee, made a motion to approve $4500 to Brotcke Well and Pump for maintenance and water testing and $4944 to Brotcke Well and Pump for modifications to the well. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Charles, chairperson of the Parks Committee, reported that the basketball courts were open. He also thanked Cathy Black and her husband for the generous donation to replace the nets at Center Park with chain nets.

Trustee Patrick, chairperson of the Public Works Committee, was absent. Trustee Bartley stated that the State will be doing bid letting for work by the Interstate will be done in June.

Trustee Bartley, chairperson of the Economic Development Committee, stated the driveway for the truck stop is complete. The developer is waiting for his building permit.

Mayor Rader was absent. Trustee Bartley stated that we are low on our census response and we need to promote the census. We are currently at 57% response rate.

Trustee Payne made a motion to move to Executive Session at 7:12 pm. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Landess made a motion to return to open session at 7:35 pm. Trustee Payne seconded. Trustee Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Payne made a motion to approve promoting Kyle Allison to patrol officer from probationary officer effective June 30th and to approve promoting Cortez Luttrell to patrol officer from probationary officer effective July 1st. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Landess made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:36 pm. Trustee Payne seconded. Trustees Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
