City of Atlanta City Council met June 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

OPEN: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held at the Atlanta City Hall and remotely. The meeting was called to order by Mayor McVey at 7:30pm.

Motion by Cheek second by Evans to approve the minutes as presented.

Motion by Colaw second by Cheek to pay all bills or as far as money allows.

The Mayor reported the Police Dept. was happy with local business cooperating in complying with the COVID 19 response.

The council took up the Topic of the TIF application from Josh and Ashley Collins for improvement to 106 SW First St.

The council commented on the project. Alderman Young had a problem with a 50% cost sharing on Phase I of the project.

Alderman Colaw felt that another building should not collapse in the block.

The Mayor felt that repairing the building would be an asset to the community.

Motion by Colaw second by Cheek to approve the TIF request in the amount of $47,172.

The Mayor presented to the council the possible restoration of the parking lot across from the Post Office.

Alderman Colaw commented on the project. Information was given to the council for review. The cost will be $9390.00 to be paid by the TIF.

The City Attorney reported that the case on the property on Second St. will be heard next week.

The Governor extended his order through June 27th. The attorney went over how the City of Lincoln was handling outdoor seating during the COVID orders.

If the City allows seating in the streets it would have to be done by resolution. Other COVID requirements will be considered.

Alderman Colaw reported that the Business notifications on the Business Support Program had been mailed out. The coupons will go out by the 10th of the month.

He also reported that he had found a DVD from 2010 the IRWA completed to find issues under railroad tracks.

He also reported a TIF request pertaining to work proposed at the Country Aire. This will be given to the Council at the next meeting.

Alderman Eimer suggested that something could be done for the 100-year anniversary of the Fire Dept.

The Mayor felt that the Fireworks could still be held at the Ball Diamond. Insurance will be checked.

Donations for the Fireworks were discussed and how to do it. At this time no businesses will be asked for donations.

Baseball practice will begin at the Ball Diamond, but no games allowed yet.

The Mayor reported that the pool will be made ready, but he was unsure if it would be opened.

Clean-up day will be Saturday June 6th.

Lift Station #1 needed to be rebuilt right away and the cost will be around $14,000. We will move forward with this.
