Riverton Village Board of Trustees met July 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Riverton held their regular board meeting on  at the Riverton Village Hall, Riverton, IL.

The board meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm. Those answering roll call: Mayor Tom Rader, Trustees: Russ Patrick, Dave Charles, Ginger Payne, Joe Bartley, Jim Mileham, and Michelle Landess.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to approve June 15th regular board meeting minutes and pay the bills. It was seconded by Trustee Mileham. Trustees Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. Trustee Patrick abstained.

People to Address the Board:

A village resident had an issue with the utility deposit after a recent home fire. He said he would like to thank the board and show his appreciation for working with him on the issue and wanted to apologize for being sharp with his words.

Lisa requested a follow up on the speed zone change and sign in her neighborhood. Mayor Rader stated that it was still in committee. She also inquired about stop lines and the center line on 3rd street being striped. Supt. Lyons stated that they are on the list for Petersburg to complete.

New Business:

Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve Ordinance #20-013 An Ordinance Approving A Public Works Contract With Kuhn and Trello (Riverton Sewer -Projects). Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Engineer Kevin Kuhn stated that he would also reach out to Petersburg about Riveria and 3rd Street painting.

Trustee Payne made a motion to approve Ordinance #20-014 An ordinance approving intergovernmental agreement with Sangamon County for animal control services. Trustee Bartley seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham and Landess voted yes.

Superintendent Lyons submitted his report. Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve up to $5000 to purchase more auto read water meters. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve a bid from Rick Gatschenberger Heating and Cooling to replace an air conditioner, coil and air handler for $7245.00. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. Trustee Mileham made a motion to waive bids and accept fixing 250 feet of sewer main from manhole to manhole on 3rd street from Petersburg Plumbing up to $60,000 due to the emergency nature of the incident. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes. Trustee Mileham made a motion to approve up to $10,000 to purchase auto read electric meters. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Chief Lawley submitted his report. He will reach out the school district to get a list of needed school supplies.

Office Manager Patterson had nothing to report.

Treasurer Baker had nothing to report.

Committee Reports:

Trustee Landess, chairperson of the Administrative Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Payne, chairperson of the Public Safety Committee, stated they had held a committee meeting and they would be working on getting Community Policing Events publicized..

Trustee Mileham, chairperson of the Public Utility Committee, stated that during Phase 4 the recommendation is to not turn off utilities through July and they will be working on repayment plans for unpaid utility bills in a committee meeting through a temporary ordinance.

Trustee Charles, chairperson of the Parks Committee, reported baseball is starting at the Field of Dreams and asked that the lights be checked and trash can lids be ordered.

Trustee Patrick, chairperson of the Public Works Committee, had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley, chairperson of the Economic Development Committee, stated the truck stop is moving slowly and that they may be changing the brand of the truck stop. Kiwanis is looking at coordinating a Park Clean Up Day and the Don Hartlaub Memorial 5K is set for August 8th.

Mayor Rader had nothing to report.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to move to Executive Session at 7:27 pm. Trustee Landess seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to return to open session at 8:09 pm. Trustee Patrick seconded. Trustee Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Landess made a motion to approve Ordinance #20-015 An Ordinance Approving Salaries For The Fiscal Year Beginning May 1, 2020 and Ending April 30, 2021. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.

Trustee Bartley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:11 pm. Trustee Mileham seconded. Trustees Patrick, Charles, Payne, Bartley, Mileham, and Landess voted yes.
