Village of La Grange Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met May 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. CALL TO ORpER ANp ROLL CALL

A meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners (BOFPC) of the Village of La Grange was held on May 21,2020 by telephone as it was not practical or prudent to hold the meeting in person due to Governor Pritzker's orders related to COVID-19. The meeting was called to order at l0:02 a.m.

PRESENT: (and constituting a quorum): Chairman Hoffenberg, Commissioner Boersma and Commissioner Levato

ABSENT: None

ALSO PRESENT: Andrianna Peterson, Village Manager; Kurt Bluder, Police Chief; and Terry Vavra, Fire Chief.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES- MARCH 1 1" 2O2O

The minutes of the March 11,2020 meeting were presented for approval. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Boersma and seconded by Commissioner Levato that the minutes be approved. Motion carried.

3. BUSINESS AT HAND

A. Amendments - Chief Bluder reported that based on the results of the background investigation he was recommending the discontinuation of the hiring process for Christine Clemmons and Matthew Venn. After discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Boersma and seconded by Commissioner Hoffenberg that both candidates be removed from the Police Officer hiring eligibility list. Motion carried.

B- Conditional Offer of Employment - Chief Bluder reported that based on the results of the background investigation, he was recommending a conditional offer of employment for Thomas West as a probationary police offrcer. If approved, Mr. West would still need to  successfully complete the pre-employment tests before an offer of employment could be made. After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Boersma and seconded by Commissioner Levato to make a conditional offer of employment to Thomas West and proceed with the remaining steps in the hiring process. Motion carried.

C. Call for Examinations - Police Promotional Sergeant List Department does - Chief of Police reported that the Police Department does not currently have a Sergeant Eligibility register and is recommending that the BOFPC authorize a new promotional exam process. The Police Department is currently down one Sergeant due to retirements. He recommended that VO Solutions administer the testing process as they have in the past. The written exilm would be tentatively scheduled during the week of August 25. A minimum passing score of 70olo is also suggested.

After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Levato and seconded by Commissioner Boersma to conduct the exam through I/O Solutions with a minimum passing score of 70o/o. Motion carried.

4.OLD BUSINESS

None.

5.NEW BUSINESS

Chief Bluder reported that Deputy Chief Andy Peters has retired.

6.PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

7. CLOSED SESSION

None.

8. ADJOURNMENT

Since there was no further business before the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, it was moved by Commissioner Boersma and seconded by Commissioner Levato that the meeting was adjourned at l0:23 p.m.
