ILLINOIS STATE MUSEUM: Art Everywhere

Illinois State Museum issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.

Dive into the world of art, past the usual crayons and paints, to explore art made of unusual materials or in unusual ways! Folding paper, painting salt, and even using your own body are just some of the ways you can explore art-making a little differently. This online event will be full of creative activities inspired by art and science. In addition to art activities, fun facts will be shared throughout the weekend as well as educational resources to continue the learning fun will be shared throughout the weekend. Content will be posted to this event page and the ISM Family Fun website at http://bit.ly/ismfamilyfun. You can participate by responding "going" to this event or checking the website during the event weekend. From Friday to Sunday, you’ll find new content for your family to enjoy.

For more at-home fun, reserve for a free activity kit. Activity kits will include supplies for two craft activities and a few supplies for a fun science experiment (some additional supplies needed). Check out bit.ly/ArtEverywhereActivityKits for more information and to reserve your kits. Kit reservations required, supplies limited to 100 participants. Kits must be picked up curbside at the Museum on September 2 or 3. All unclaimed kits will be released the afternoon of September 3, on a first-come, first-served basis and no registration needed.

Everyone who completes an activity and shares a photo via email (events@illinoisstatemuseum.org) or in the Facebook event will be entered in a drawing for a prize from Lincoln’s Little Toy Shop. You can choose one of the recommended activities posted during the event or come up with your own activity. You can post or send your entry through Monday, September 7.* We'll announce the winner and feature our favorite photos on social media after the event.

This virtual event is sponsored by bankwithBOS. Activities will be geared toward elementary age children and their families, but most will be adaptable to other ages.

*Prize Drawing Details: Please submit family-friendly content only. The Museum reserves the right to remove or hide any content it feels is inappropriate for its audience. Only one entry per individual for the drawing, though you may post/send as many photos as you like during the event. Winners will have to share their name and address to receive their prizes. This information will not be shared outside the Museum and will not be used for purposes other than mailing prizes.
