Buffalo FPD responds to 17 fires in 2018

Buffalo Fire Protection District responded to 24 calls in 2018 - 36.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Buffalo included 17 fires - seven structure fires, seven vehicle fires and three other fires.

In all, the department saw $5,200 in fire loss - or about $306 per fire.

The department also received seven false calls, including one malicious call and six other false calls.

The Buffalo Grove Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 56 active employees and 39 retired or inactive employees, was $5,180,894 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $172,696 for every fire in 2017.
