Orland FPD responds to 151 fires in 2018

O'Rland Fire Protection District responded to 1396 calls in 2018 - 3.9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Orland included 151 fires - 111 structure fires, 14 vehicle fires and 26 other fires. The fire department also responded to six calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,290,200 in fire loss - or about $8,544 per fire.

The department also received 1239 false calls, including 14 malicious calls and 1225 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries and one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, 13 fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The O'Rland Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $38,514,178 in 2017.

The Orland FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 116 active employees and 66 retired or inactive employees, was $13,545,670 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $77,849 for every fire in 2017.
