City of Petersburg City Council met Aug. 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Nathan Grosboll, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney John Gabala.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable.

A motion was made by Alderman Molohon and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the minutes of July 21, 2020 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of July 7, 2020 Regular Executive Session Meeting. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes, Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

D. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the minutes of July 21, 2020 Personnel Committee Meeting.

VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

E. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the minutes of the July 21, 2020 Personnel Committee Executive Session Meeting. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS

1. Bill Shaub spoke on the possibility of him starting up a Hemp Processing Facility and wanted to know the Council’s thoughts on

it. Discussion was held.

V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

1. Chief Jones gave the Police Department Report.

B. Fire Department

1. Captain Henderson presented the Fire Department Report.

VI. OFFICERS’ REPORTS

A. Mayor’s Report

1. Resolution 2020-03 Fair Housing. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to approve Resolution 2020-03 A Fair Housing Resolution. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

2. Façade Grant Application – Mark and Kim Wenda with Re/Max Professionals Kim Wenda Team request a TIFF Grant for Façade Improvements. A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Gorman to Approve the Façade Improvement Grant Application for Mark and Kim Wenda with Re/Max Professionals Kim Wenda Team for a maximum of $6000.00. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

3. The Menard County Animal Control Agreement. The Menard County Animal Control Agreement is due. A motion made by Alderman Grosboll seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the mayor siging the Menard County Animal Control Agreement. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

1. Discussion on the B-1 Zoning Planning Commission.

2. The Bulldozer runs till end of August.

3. First Hire for Street Department ends this week. Second hire ad will go into the paper next week.

4. Meeting to open bids for the MFT Oil and Chip program will be August 10 at 10 a.m.

5. Question on City Wide Clean Up.

6. Alderman Grosboll got some complaints about weeds at JC Park.

7. Questions on outside eating areas.

X. NEW BUSINESS

None

XII. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes, Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
