Illinois State Museum issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.
In response to Illinois’ Tier 3 resurgence mitigations, the Illinois State Museum will temporarily close our flagship facility and Research and Collections Center in Springfield, the Dickson Mounds Museum in Lewistown, and the Lockport Gallery effective Friday, Nov. 20. All locations will remain closed until further notice.
This decision is the best course of action to ensure our wonderful patrons and dedicated staff's well-being. We'll continue to offer virtual opportunities so you can experience all the Museum has to offer from the safety of your home.
